Aston Villa FC English Soccer Teams
Humble beginnings:
The Aston Villa Football Club was founded by a group of cricketers from the Villa Cross Weslyan Chapel in the city of Birmingham. This was during the winter of 1874-75. The club had a very enigmatic beginning: founded by cricketers it played its first game against Aston Brook St Mary's Rugby team and the game consisted in one half of football and the other of rugby! So this club was born of an interesting mélange of sports. In 1876 George Ramsay, a Scottish player was appointed captain and, it was under him first manager that the club turned professional and realised its full potential winning the FA Cup in 1887.
