The Melita was built in 1888 and is one of the larger Victorian buildings in Stratford-upon-Avon. The property became a bed and breakfast in 1935 and has been welcoming visitors and theatre goers through its doors ever since.

The hotel is 350m from the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, restaurants, and shops.

The Melita Hotel provides high quality accommodation and breakfast. Since its construction the hotel has endured many alterations and changes. Russell and Patricia have tried to restore the Victorian feel of the house whilst providing their guests with all the modern conveniences and creature comforts that todays visitor has come to expect. Patricia and Russell firmly believe that a clean room, a comfortable bed and a delicious breakfast are essential if guests are to return to the hotel again and again.

The Melita has, for several years, enjoyed 4 Diamond rating with both the English Tourist Board and the AA. The hotel is also a member of the Stratford-upon-Avon and District Hotel and Catering Association.

The Melita has twelve bedrooms ten of which are en-suite and two have private facilities. All rooms are individually decorated and appointed.

Children of all ages are welcome. Cots and highchairs are available for the younger guest. We can also arrange babysitting.

There are 3 ground floor rooms at the back of the house, 2 of which open out onto the garden.

All rooms are equipped with the following:

How to Find Us

On leaving the M40 take the A46 to Stratford-upon-Avon. At the next island take the A439 to town centre. After 4 miles you will automatically join the one-way system, keep left.
Take a left over the Clopton Bridge, crossing the river (signposted A3400 Shipston). Almost immediately, take a right at the island onto the Shipston Road (A3400). The Melita is approximately 100m on the right.
